Hometown Mission

For more than a decade, Mending Kids has delivered life-saving surgical care to children in developing countries around the world. In 2014, we launched our first US-based surgical mission.

The Need

Serving children in Southern California, Hometown Mission: Los Angeles provided a chance at a better life for kids whose conditions have been deemed “non life-threatening” or “elective” by insurance providers. We know that for a young boy with a large hairy nevus on his face, or a little girl in need of cleft-nose reconstruction, who may feel self-conscious or experience bullying as a result of their physical appearance, surgery can be truly life changing.

Program Details

Our 2021 Hometown Mission - Los Angeles is scheduled to take place this July 2021 at Memorial Care Outpatient Surgical Center Long Beach. During this one-day surgical mission, our team of board-certified surgeons, recovery nurses and other medical professionals will be donating their time and skills to provide quality surgical care for up to 20 children.

Please join and support us by referring eligible patients, available medical volunteers, or news platforms that can help us spread the word.
Through our Hometown Mission program, we provide FREE OUT-PATIENT surgeries including orthopedic, plastic and reconstructive, ENT (ear, nose, throat), urology, and general pediatric surgeries.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
